Lessons in Kindness towards Animals, People & The Natural World
Here you will find resources for tangible, teachable tools for educators, meant to impact and inspire young solutionaires.
We believe humane education is just as important as learning the A,B,C’s and in this day and age, where the advancement of technology has become such a focus, we have created a resource hub that equips educators with lesson plans, tools and teachable moments with a focus on emotional empathy, compassion and kindness towards animals, others and the Earth.
The earlier and more often we introduce empathetic learning, the more likely children are able to develop a personal passion. Together, we are creating our future compassionate leaders.
Materials for Learning
Humane Little World’s goal is to provide age appropriate learning material for educators within the K-5 sector. The learning materials provided have been developed so that educators can provide actionable steps for students to become advocates and agents of change.
Our resource library offers a list of books coupled with tangible activities that are segmented into the appropriate age span. We believe that books open the doors to children’s hearts and imaginations, where they can begin to grasp a deeper understanding of concepts and themes that support advocates for a Humane lifestyle.
Book Library
Humane Little World was created to provide tangible material for educators who understand the value of teaching empathy, compassion and kindness in a way that is valued as important as math and science. In order to understand how to facilitate Humane Education principles, it is important to familiarize yourself with the timeline, ethics and standards of the efforts and modalities of Humane Ed.
Humane Education Standards
“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make. The greatest danger to our future is apathy. You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you.”
— Jane Goodall
Understanding Humane Education
The primary goals of Humane Education are to promote an understanding of the sociological and psychological dimensions of kindness, empathy and compassion toward animals, people, and the natural world.
“If we can educate our children on such important issues to protect the future of our planet, we can make our planet a more compassionate place for all living beings,” states Katie Cleary, Executive Producer of Give Me Shelter on Netflix, and Founder of the animal news network World Animal News. “What our kids learn in school becomes embedded in their language, and is reflected in their actions towards the people and animals around them. It’s time we teach our students a more compassionate future!”
